Resources and troubleshooting
Find the setting, failure check, or reporting destination you need without reading a developer manual.
Open RE_Kenshi settings and understand which options belong to the framework.
Configuration
Open the main menu or the in-game Esc menu, then choose Options → Mods → RE_Kenshi Settings. Settings are grouped into general, gameplay, performance, and debug areas.
Change one group at a time when diagnosing behavior. A plugin may expose its own settings or use an author-specific configuration file, so its documentation remains authoritative for plugin options.
Separate framework improvements from plugin-specific behavior.
Player features
RE_Kenshi supplies native fixes, performance options, configurable gameplay behavior, and the loading surface used by C++ plugins. Some visible changes come from the framework itself; others exist only after an extension is installed.
When comparing behavior, first verify RE_Kenshi on its own, then re-enable extensions one at a time. This keeps framework and plugin responsibilities clear.
Use a short verification sequence to isolate common failures.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that the RE_Kenshi version string appears on the main menu.
- Record the Kenshi build, storefront, RE_Kenshi version, and Windows version.
- Reproduce the problem without optional extensions where practical.
- Note the exact action that triggers the failure and preserve relevant log lines.
- Check whether the problem belongs to RE_Kenshi, a specific plugin, or Kenshi itself.
For installation failures, confirm that the complete standard archive was extracted before the installer ran and that it targeted the correct game directory.
Collect useful evidence and choose the authoritative destination.
Report a problem
Report framework and installer problems through the official RE_Kenshi GitHub or Nexus destinations. Report extension-specific behavior to that extension’s author at the destination shown in the plugin catalog.
A useful report includes the version strings, game build and storefront, operating system, reproduction steps, enabled extensions, expected result, actual result, and focused log excerpts. Do not post secrets or unrelated full system logs.
